United Way and 211 — the free, 24/7 resource we support — play a vital role in helping communities prepare for disaster. Through a partnership with Verizon, this work has expanded to include preparedness workshops for community residents and non-profits, improved coordination of resources and donations, and educational campaigns offering practical preparedness advice.

Our work is designed to target specific local needs and vulnerabilities. We are working in 18 communities with plans to expand in the future.
