United Way Worldwide ranks No. 1 on the 2025 Chronicle of Philanthropy America’s Favorite Charities list. The list identifies the top 100 U.S.-based, cause-driven organizations and ranks them by the direct financial support they receive from individual Americans, private foundations, and corporate philanthropies. 

For the 2025 list, organizations are ranked based on the average amount they raised annually from 2021 through 2023, the latest year data is available for all groups. United Way Worldwide was also ranked #1 when the list was last released in 2021.

Charity Navigator, America’s leading independent charity evaluator, empowers donors to make informed giving decisions by offering detailed, objective ratings and analyses of the financial health, accountability, and transparency of the nation’s largest charities.
United Way Worldwide has proudly earned a four-star rating from Charity Navigator — an achievement shared by only 3% of charities evaluated. This prestigious rating reflects United Way’s commitment to good governance, adherence to best practices, and consistent execution of its mission in a fiscally responsible manner, ensuring the highest level of trust and ethical operations.

United Way Worldwide has earned the prestigious 2025 Platinum Seal of Transparency from GuideStar. This honor is awarded to nonprofits that exemplify the highest standards of transparency and accountability. Remarkably, fewer than 3% of the nonprofits registered with GuideStar achieve this distinction.
