Learning and Growing Together
At a learning center in Bogotá, United Way Colombia is helping young children prepare for school while supporting parents on their path to economic opportunity

Five-year-old Emily is learning her colors.
“In my house, we have two pets that I really love,” she said. “My favorite color is orange ... and yellow ... and pink too!”
Emily is one of nearly 700 preschoolers who attend Ojo de Perdiz, a learning center in Bogotá's Bosa neighborhood supported by United Way Colombia.
Through play, movement and hands-on activities, children build skills that prepare them for school and beyond.
In 2025, the center opened a new experiential and emotional learning classroom. The space gives toddlers more opportunities to explore, move and learn in ways that support their development.
Around the corner, their mothers are learning, too. On the first floor, parents can participate in P&G University, which offers practical training designed to build workplace skills, confidence, and employment opportunities. The program reflects a broader goal: helping entire families build stronger futures.
For Karen, a 27-year-old mother of three, the workshops have opened new possibilities.
“These workshops have taught me how to recognize my skills, understand how I communicate and express who I am,” she said.
Whether by supporting children’s education or equipping their parents for success in the workplace, United Way Colombia is meeting people where they are and helping them get where they want to go.
