UWW President and CEO Releases Statement about Board Member, John Dooner

Alexandria, VA (1/7/2026) - In response to the passing of United Way Worldwide's (UWW) Emeritus Board Member, John Dooner, UWW's President and CEO, Angela F. Williams, released the following statement.

The entire United Way family is deeply saddened about the passing of John Dooner, a United Way Worldwide Emeritus Board Member and the first Worldwide Chairman of United Way. John was a trailblazer in every sense of the word. In the world of advertising, he forged paths to new horizons that pushed his industry forward. And through his volunteer service, including with United Way, his generous spirit helped to make communities and our country stronger. John always used his prominent position to empower communities and help his neighbors. He will be missed, and United Way will carry on his legacy of generosity, integrity, and compassion in every community we touch.
