Jane Short
Jane Short has over 25 years of experience advising wealthy families, with a consulting practice she started in 2020. Her previous roles include senior and executive positions at various wealth management firms. Jane excels in facilitating intergenerational conversations about family values, business succession, estate planning, and philanthropy.
Before her wealth management career, Jane worked in fashion and marketing. She holds an English degree from Sweet Briar College, where she was a Benedict Scholar, Vice President of the Student Government, and tennis team captain. She later completed executive programs at Wharton and Old Dominion University, earning her CFP® designation in 2010.
Jane is deeply involved in the Hampton Roads, VA, community, serving on multiple boards, including ACCESS College Foundation, Tidewater Community College Real Estate Foundation, and Eastern Virginia Medical School Foundation. She has also held leadership roles with the Virginia Symphony Orchestra, YWCA South Hampton Roads, and United Way South Hampton Roads.
Her accolades include the “Women in Business Achievement Award” and “Woman of Distinction” honors. Jane was named to Inside Business's “Power List” for three consecutive years and appointed by the Hampton Roads Estate Planning Council to the National Association of Estate Planners (AEP®) in 2017.
A Hampton Roads resident for 28 years, Jane enjoys walking, biking, skiing, virtual yoga, and traveling with her husband. She cherishes time with her four granddaughters, participates in a book club, watches Korean “dramadies,” and cares for her rescue Cockapoo, Mr. Bingley. Recently, she has taken up Tai Chi.
