NOURISHING COMMUNITY

Food insecurity, or not knowing where your next meal will come from, affects millions of people globally. Many families have to choose cheap, unhealthy food or even skip medical care to afford meals. The solution to their problem is not simply ending hunger, so we’re challenging food insecurity through our work in health, education and financial stability. In October we highlight the work United Ways around the world are doing to fight hunger and celebrate our network's unique food diversity.

OUR FOOD SECURITY WORK

Across the globe, 735 million people are hungry. In response, United Way is supporting creative food security strategies in the communities we serve. With volunteers and strong corporate partnerships around the world, we are solving hunger through food pharmacies, school gardens, food banks, food deliveries and more. These programs range from delivering meals to connecting people to local food banks and have shown real, positive results. Together, we are connecting people everywhere to the resources they need to build a nourished, thriving community.

RECIPES FOR COMMUNITY

United Way is dedicated to fighting hunger and its roots in systemic inequity. As we highlight our efforts to ensure food security for all, we also celebrate the various ways we eat in the global community. The many food traditions represented in these recipes reflect the cultural and culinary diversity of our network.
