Next Week
If your credit history is poor, review the tool, "Improving Your Credit".
Circle or highlight any errors on your credit reports.
File a dispute for errors you have found with the credit-reporting agency.
Make a plan to pay down outstanding balances and pay off any debts you might owe.
During the Next Few Months
Check to make sure that any items you disputed on your credit reports were removed. Periodically check your reports to ensure that the information was not reinserted.
Stay current with all of your bills
Pay down debt balances
Make sure the amount of credit you are using on all of your credit cards is a small percentage of your available credit limit.
Be sure you understand how to keep good credit once you improve it. Don’t let a small mistake undo your hard work.
