The Starbucks Foundation is supporting United Way Worldwide’s COVID-19 Community Response and Recovery Fund with a $250,000 donation to help the most vulnerable populations across the U.S. receive critical financial and social service support.
This is part of a larger partnership that United Way and Starbucks forged last year, focused on fighting homelessness and working together in underserved communities to connect people to local resources.
In January 2020, Starbucks announced plans to operate 100 stores by 2025 in underrepresented neighborhoods across the country as part of the expanded Community Store program, working with non-profits and civic leaders to bolster economic growth. A national partnership with United Way will help help hundreds of Starbucks employees drive meaningful community engagement in and outside of store.
In December 2019, United Way and The Starbucks Foundation partnered to give together and help our unsheltered neighbors get on a path toward a stable, successful future. As part of the campaign, The Starbucks Foundation matched gifts to United Way up to $200,000 to double impact of generous donors.
The Starbucks Foundation chose United Way for this campaign because of our commitment to help our unsheltered neighbors find homes – and stay there. United Way brings people and resources together -- from all walks of life and across the community – to create innovative solutions that tackle some of our nation’s toughest problems, including homelessness.
