United Way Centraide’s long history of supporting communities across Canada dates back to 1917. Today, 71 local United Way Centraide offices support more than 5,000 communities across Canada every year, helping to improve lives from coast to coast to coast. The name of our national office – United Way Centraide Canada – reflects the bilingual nature of our country’s culture and language.
Together, with the support of Canadians, we strive to fulfill our mission: to improve lives and build community by engaging individuals and mobilizing collective action.
Locally and nationally, the United Way Centraide promise is to create opportunities for a better life for everyone in our communities.
United Way Centraides make strategic local investments to achieve meaningful and lasting change in Canadian communities with a focus on three priority areas:
- Moving people from poverty to possibility
- Helping kids be all they can be
- Building strong and healthy communities
