May has been a hard month for Oklahoma. But in times of great trouble, it’s amazing how communities will come together to help each other. Tonight at the Chesapeake Energy Arena in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma-native Blake Shelton hosts “Healing in the Heartland: Relief Benefit Concert.”
Shelton has brought together a group of music heavy-weights to fill the line-up including: Miranda Lambert, Vince Gill, Reba, Usher and more. Tune into NBC at 9:00 pm ET (with a rebroadcast at 9:00 pm PT) and help Oklahoma rebuild.
Proceeds of the concert will go to United Way of Central Oklahoma for immediate and long-term recovery efforts in the aftermath of this disaster.
The devastation has left our friends in the Sooner State with great challenges. Recent reports confirm nearly 1,200 buildings destroyed, including schools and homes, plus another 12,000 damaged. In addition to the 24 tragically lost to these events, survivors find themselves at risk of asbestos and neurotoxic lead kicked up by strong winds and rescue and clean-up efforts.
