United Way President Returns to New Hampshire After Helping Ukrainian Refugees in Romania
April 12, 2022
MANCHESTER, N.H. — A Dover man is back in New Hampshire after spending a week on the ground in Romania helping Ukrainian refugees.
Helping people is nothing new for Mike Apfelberg, the president of the United Way of Greater Nashua, but he said his experience in Romania was unlike anything he has ever done before.
Apfelberg said he felt compelled to help the people of Ukraine. He used his experience as president of the United Way of Greater Nashua to connect with Maltez, a Maltese relief organization operating in Romania. He just returned from six days in Romania, where he assisted refugees at two border crossings.
