The Walmart Foundation’s national investment in MyFreeTaxes with United Way provides free online tax preparation in all 50 states and D.C. to anyone who earns $60,000 or less each year. MyFreeTaxes has helped millions of Americans save more than $10 billion of their hard-earned money—money that can go toward rent, bills and other necessities.
Walmart and United Way are also working together to make a difference in other ways. With its summertime 'fill the bus' campaign, Walmart encourages customers to donate school supplies at Walmart stores. The supplies are distributed to children in those communities to ensure all kids are equipped for school. United Way is Walmart's premier partner in the school supply collection and distribution.
In 2014, the residents of Petoskey, Michigan donated more than 9,500 items in Char-Em United Way’s 'fill the bus' school supply drive. All supplies went to Charlevoix and Emmet Counties, where half the children qualify for free or reduced lunch.
That's one reason we've recognized Walmart as an Outstanding Strategic Partner, celebrating its leadership, long-term commitment, volunteering and employee engagement.
