State Public Policy Communities of Practice

State Public Policy Communities of Practice

The State Policy Communities of Practice Model aims to equip the United Way network with practical state policy examples. It creates a dynamic environment for peer engagement, ideation, resource sharing, and collaborative problem-solving. These Communities of Practice will also furnish tools, language, and data resources, assisting local United Ways in achieving success in various focus areas.

State Policy Communities of Practice will feature regular virtual meetings. These sessions will concentrate on specific state policy areas, such as state 211 funding, childcare, housing, etc. Participants will have the opportunity to articulate the needs of their communities, discuss ongoing efforts, and exchange ideas with fellow policy and impact staff pursuing similar objectives.

The State Policy Communities of Practice will cover discussions on the following topics:

  • Childcare Policy
  • Education & Workforce Development Policy
  • Health Policy
  • Housing Policy
  • Tax Credit Policy

Initial phases of the Communities of Practice will focus on three key areas – housing, childcare, and state 211 funding, with additional topics to be introduced in 2024. To participate in the State Policy Communities of Practice, sign up here.

The State Policy Communities of Practice provide the United Way network with concrete examples of state policies while creating opportunities for active peer engagement, ideation, resource sharing, and collective problem-solving. Communities of Practice will also provide tools, language, and data sources that will help local United Ways achieve success across multiple areas of focus.
