United Way Worldwide Honored as Gold Stevie® Award Winner in 2017 American Business Awards

Stevie winners will be presented with their awards on June 20 in New York

Alexandria, VA (May 2, 2017) – United Way Worldwide was named the winner of a Gold Stevie® Award in the Publication Category for Best Annual Report - Online/Electronic in The 15th Annual American Business Awards today.

The American Business Awards are the nation’s premier business awards program. All organizations operating in the U.S.A. are eligible to submit nominations – public and private, for-profit and non-profit, large and small.

Nicknamed the Stevies for the Greek word meaning “crowned,” the awards will be presented to winners at a gala ceremony at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in New York on Tuesday, June 20.

For 2015, United Way Worldwide created a multi-media annual report illustrating the scale of the extensive efforts and results of the world’s largest non-profit - with 1,800 locations, in 40 countries, on six continents, served by 2.8 volunteers and 9.8 million donors -  that was well received by the public as well as the Stevie Award judges. Judges’ comments included: “One of the most impressive, powerful, immersive, annual reports I've seen online. Objectives were not only met, but exceeded. Brilliant work,” and “This is a truly excellent, next-generation annual report that exposes the United Way's vital work in a highly engaging manner.” With strong visuals, graphics, and video, the annual report shows individual efforts and collective results, and large-scale impact in childhood success, youth success, financial stability and access to health. The award winning annual report can be accessed here.

“Our annual report is an asset that our entire organization is proud of and is an unrivaled opportunity to bring attention to the issues that we fight for every day in the areas of health, education, and financial stability. The annual report is also an opportunity to highlight our partners and donors and most importantly to tell the stories of the people that we are honored to serve every day,” said United Way Worldwide Chief Marketing Officer, Lisa Bowman. “Our talented creative and digital teams work relentlessly in pursuit of excellence on behalf of the United Way mission. This award is a tribute to their talent and dedication.”

More than 190 professionals worldwide participated in the judging process to select this year’s Stevie Award winners.

“Each year the judges find the quality and variety of the nominations to be greater than the year before. The 2017 competition was intense and every organization that has won should be proud,” said Michael Gallagher, president and founder of the Stevie Awards.
