United Way is the largest nonprofit in the world and has a unique model that integrates global strategy with local implementation enabling them to focus on the most pressing issues in the world. Brian Gallagher, CEO, shared that in addition to a once in a life upheaval from the pandemic, “the killing of George Floyd unleashed a worldwide plea for equity, justice and a more fair world”. Gallagher explains that the window opens slowly but closes quickly. “Inertia fights back in 90 days from now, the window for change will close and we will head right back to the old normal that got us in this situation. Let us make courageous decisions, reimagine what it can and should be and fight the instructional racism that, for years, many have just accepted.”
