United Way Romania’s Board Chair endorses the LIVE UNITED campaign

Mr. Steven van Groningen, the President of United Way Romania is one of the celebrities that endorsed our recent “Live United” campaign. The Live United Way principle is one of his strongest beliefs and he promoted it in the press. He also accepted to lend his image and appear in a poster for an outdoor campaign all throughout June.

“Live United “means reuniting all the members of a community: those who can help but also those who need help. It is in fact the pledge we all take towards the world we live in. It is the way I can get involved, identifying things I want to change or people who need my help. It’s good to know there’s a community I can rely on. Live United is the start for a better life” he said. Next, as a pledge to his “Live United” belief, he will run at the International Marathon Bucharest wearing the Live United T-shirt and setting an inspirational example to other corporate leaders and to the public at large. Moreover, he also chose to step into the role of The Tocqueville Society and contribute to its development in Romania. He was, in fact, the first member from Romania in the Alexis de Tocqueville Society with a personal contribution of more than 10,000 $, paving the way for other members as well.

His extraordinary commitment started in 2004, since he is also one of the founding members of United Way Romania and acted as the first President of the United Way Romania Board. This is his third mandate, running the Board and bringing a solid view of the future. Raiffeisen Bank, the bank whose leader he is, is our biggest donor with an annual contribution of more than 100,000 $. The bank also provided United Way Romania with an endowment that has now risen to more than 1 million $, a financial help, securing the future of the organisation.

Besides its economic impact, Raiffeisen Bank has a solid corporate social responsibility policy supporting: education, culture, environment, social issues and sports. Their CSR impact is measured using the LBG methods. We are proud to acknowledge our long-lasting partnership that goes on for 8 years with one of the key banks in Romania and are eager to develop together new strategies to positively impact the Romanian society.
