United Way of Baroda Celebrates World Disability Day

United Way of Baroda brought together more than 1,600 people and 35 NGOs for a 6km march and rally on December 3, 2010, to kick off a ten-day celebration of World Disability Day. With an estimated 70 million people living with disabilities in India, United Way of Baroda and rally participants believe local communities can have a significant impact on creating a favorable atmosphere based on compassion and love where those with disabilities can live and work with dignity. Programs and activities during the festival, including sports and cultural events, are designed to raise awareness about prevention, early identification and timely management of physical and mental disabilities.
