New Book Chronicles Running America Event

New Book Chronicles Running America Event

In 2008 Marshall Ulrich set out to run across America from San Francisco to New York in record time in an event duly named Running America. The adventure was not only a test of endurance and speed but was also an effort to increase awareness of childhood obesity and youth fitness, while raising support for United Way’s efforts to improve people’s health and our goal to increase by one-third the percentage of healthy young people and adults.  “A growing number of United Ways across the country are focusing on the issues of childhood obesity and youth fitness with programs that help young people make positive nutritional and behavioral choices,” said Randy Punley, United Way Worldwide’s Director of Media and Corporate Partnerships.  “This inspirational feat encourages people to become part of the LIVE UNITED movement and illustrates that everyone can make a difference.”

Now, 2 years later, Marshall is releasing his book, RUNNING ON EMPTY, which documents his 3063.2-mile record-setting run across the United States and draws on his long and legendary career as an extreme endurance athlete. We thank Marshall for his support of United Way and encourage you to pick up a copy of his book today to read the inside story on extreme endurance, both in sport and life. http://www.marshallulrich.com/blog/book-on-sale/
