Millennial Women: A Force for Change

Lianne Wynne (far right) speaks with Michigan Senator Debbie Stabenow, along with fellow ASB participants Destini Perkins and Sandy Vercellino.

When Lianne Wynne applied for United Way's Alternative Spring Break Powered by U by Kotex focused on empowering women, she didn't know she'd be competing with nearly 200 college students from around the country. Lianne, a senior at Andrews University, was chosen along with 24 other students to spend their spring break carrying out service projects, meeting with the White House Council on Women and Girls, and advocating for policy change on Capitol Hill. The experience, she says, was eye-opening.

Yet what made the deepest impression was the group she was with.

"Women are a powerful force," she said. "When you take 25 amazingly brilliant college-aged women from across the country with different backgrounds and experiences, it's a force to be reckoned with."

Listen to her experience and how she thinks women change the face of service and advocacy.
