United Way is in an important period of transition as we work to become a truly worldwide movement. In view of United Way’s growing presence in the Europe region, the 2013 United Way Europe and Middle East Regional Conference took place in London on November 4th to 6th. The event brought together 14 local United Way CEOs and staff leaders, 7 Board members, 12 United Way Worldwide speakers, and 18 corporate prospects willing to know more about community impact and engaging in the priority issue of education in this region.
The Regional Conference was a great opportunity for regional members to network, share best practices and success stories and leverage their experience to inspire network peers, while United Way Worldwide presented community impact, investor relations, communications and capacity building tools to support this ambition.
One noticeable achievement is the resulting action plan to build a regional initiative supported by both leadership at local level and a common speech around education, in order for United Way to be recognized as the strategic partner for CSR at the regional level.
Most importantly, Local United Ways understood the power of the network and how United Way Worldwide can support and leverage local best practices and resources and the importance of being compliant to build a strong world class network.
One local CEO commented: “We would like to thank you once again for an inspiring and instructive conference. The experience was more than the conference itself but was about the people, the connections and understanding among colleagues.”
