Join Us in Celebrating National Voter Registration Day!

United Way is excited to once again participate in a national effort to engage and mobilize Americans in our political process; specifically, by helping to register more than a hundred thousand voters across the country on September 26, 2017— National Voter Registration Day.

Last year, millions of Americans didn’t vote because they missed a registration deadline or didn’t know how to register. National Voter Registration Day is a day of action before state deadlines begin in October, where thousands of organizations and volunteers organize to ensure our family, friends and neighbors are registered to vote.

This year, United Way is organizing a Student United Way Advocacy Challenge to encourage young people to make their voices heard in the political process. Students across the country will coordinate in-person voter registration events and promote voter education with their peers on social media.

Join the #NationalVoterRegistrationDay movement!

Have you moved—even just across town—since the last election? Have you changed your name? Will you turn 18 by Election Day? Are you a newly naturalized citizen? Have you not voted in a while? In all of these cases, you may need to register or update your voter registration to make your voice heard at the ballot box this November.

Why register in 2017?

States, cities, counties and towns across the country have big elections this fall. Primaries for next year’s state and national elections are just a few months away. This year, local elections for mayors, judges, school boards and more are being held in all 50 states. Our water supplies, roads and parks are determined at the local level. These offices and issues affect our daily lives—we need to vote local!

National Voter Registration Day is the perfect opportunity to get involved, no matter what party you support or which issues matter most to you. This National Voter Registration Day, join us in speaking out for our communities! Here’s how you can take action:

  • Click here to register to vote or update your registration
  • Click here to find a National Voter Registration Day event near you, and sign up to help your friends and neighbors register
  • Use #NationalVoterRegistrationDay on social media to spread the word!

Voting is our collective opportunity to express ourselves as a community, as voters and as Americans. Take a few seconds to make sure your voter registration is up to date, and join us in celebrating National Voter Registration Day 2017 on September 26!
