It’s not too late - Join United Way for Day of Action across the country

Every year on June 21, United Way invites all Americans to LIVE UNITED and take action in their communities.  Last year, there were more than 400 projects focused on education, income, and health in all fifty states.  It’s not too late to join us tomorrow.

You can join us tomorrow here in Washington, DC as United Way and Target partner up to recruite 1,000 volunteers for a special event on the National Mall to assemble summer reading backpacks for 50,000 students.

Can’t make it out tomorrow?  DON’T LIVE IN THE DC METRO AREA? You can still work to help us improve education in America.

  • You can PLEDGE TO volunteer. United Way is recruiting one million volunteer readers, tutors and mentors. Take the pledge here today. THEN SPREAD THE WORD TO YOUR FRIENDS, FAMILY, COWORKERS AND MORE!
  • You can advocate. Take action without leaving your desk and help shape public policy ISSUES ON EDUCATION?.
  • You can GET INFORMED AND MAKE YOUR VOICE HEARD. Follow the great work going on in DC and around the country today on United Way’s national Facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/UnitedWay) or on Twitter via our national Twitter account @live_united and through the hashtag #2011ACTION. Retweet, share your ideas and spread the word.
