It has become a tradition for United Way Romania to reward the generosity and dedication of their community partners. This year, on May 8, the annual Gala celebrated United Way’s 10th anniversary in Romania, under the slogan “10 years of straights A’s”.
In a unique school-like setting, at the wonderful JW Marriott Bucharest Grand Hotel, over 200 guests – private donors, company and NGO representatives, and volunteers – were invited to feel top of the class for their contributions in the community. At the same time, the theme of the event promoted United Way Romania’s take on the education challenge and their school drop-out prevention program, “Learn to succeed”.
The Gala awarded, amongst others, great ideas for the workplace campaign, the companies that have supported United Way Romania “since the first grade”, and also Major Individual Donors. United Way Romania’s Tocqueville Society members, who doubled in the past year, were all invited on stage and received trophies for their generosity.
“We always wanted for United Way Romania to mean more than philanthropy, a community in its true sense, where everyone can contribute and receive something out of it. And today we believe that we are closer than ever to this ideal. We are proud to celebrate 10 years of commitment to our communities, 10 years of growth and challenges that we could not have overcome without the constant help and dedication of our partners. Some of them have been together with us since the first year, others became our friends along the way and, together, we have achieved great things.” – Cristina Damian, CEO United Way Romania
