Neeraj Mehta

Interim President and Chief Executive Officer

Neeraj Mehta is the interim President and Chief Executive Officer of United Way Worldwide. Mr. Mehta previously served as the Chairman of the United Way Worldwide U.S.A. Board of Trustees, and as a member of the Worldwide Board of Trustees.

As interim President and CEO, Mr. Mehta will focus on engaging the United Way network of nearly 1,200 local members across nearly 40 nations and territories. He will guide the organization’s strategic initiatives as United Way works to rebuild communities faced with economic challenges in a post-pandemic landscape, as well as calls for greater racial and ethnic equity worldwide.

For 20 years, Mr. Mehta has been associated with United Way as a donor, advocate, or volunteer. Now he joins as interim President and CEO with deep insight about United Way, and a track-record of excellence in leadership in his previous roles. From 2015 to 2020, Neeraj was the Executive Vice President, Chief Executive Officer of Payment Solutions and Chief Commercial Officer of Synchrony. In this capacity, Mr. Mehta led the adoption of Synchrony's sales platform, providing consumer financing through retail channels. Mr. Mehta also built out new functions for Synchrony by overseeing corporate strategy, payment innovation, strategic partnerships, Synchrony Ventures and acquisitions as the Executive Vice President, Business Strategy and Development. Mr. Mehta joined GE in 1996 and held numerous executive roles at GE Capital, including president and Chief Executive Officer of GE Capital, Commercial Distribution Finance, and operating multiple other business units during his 20 years with GE.
