Rev. Marilynn Robinson

Member Women United Global Leadership Council
Community Leader Local Area

A native New Yorker, Rev. Marilynn Sasportas Robinson received her B.A. degree from Harvard-Radcliffe College and Master of Public Health from Yale School of Public Health. Now retired, she served as Senior Vice President at Saint Francis Healthcare for over 20 years. She held an Episcopal appointment as the Pastor of Saint Andrew AME Church and her husband, Rev. Kenneth S. Robinson, M.D. In this unique capacity, she served as the operational leader of various congregational ministries and administrative functions. The Robinsons were known for helping to define the blessings to be experienced through contemporary, joint ministry. They retired from pastoring in December 2015.

An 18-year breast cancer survivor, she advocates for women’s health services and is a sought-after speaker. She is active in the Memphis community and has received numerous awards for her work.

Rev. Marilynn serves on the Women United Global Leadership Council, the Executive Board of her local Women’s United, and as the Vice-Chair of the Board of The Circles of Success Learning Academy. In addition, she is the First Vice President of the 13th Episcopal District Women in Ministry Organization of the AME Church. She is on the board of the Greater Memphis Women’s Foundation and The Mid-South Transplant Foundation. She is the Coordinator of ReadingWorks, a community library she founded in 2010. During the COVID-19 pandemic, recognizing the need for women to connect and interact with other women, she organized a women’s support group, Seasoned Sistahs, that meets virtually every month. Over 100 women have participated.

Joyfully married since 1979, the Robinsons have been blessed with twin daughters, Maisha and Nuriya, both physicians.
