Donn is a principal vice president of Bechtel Power Corporation and the president of Communications, Renewables and Transmission business line. In his current role, he is responsible for strategy, overall customer satisfaction, quality of services, and profitability for the organization. The business line focuses on engineering, procurement, construction and project management of wireless and wire line communications infrastructure deployments; solar photovoltaic (PV) and offshore wind power generation; and onshore and offshore transmission projects. The business line is comprised of approximately 1,000 colleagues managing projects totaling $1B - $2B in revenue annually.
Prior to this leadership position, Donn served as the corporate manager of Environmental, Safety & Health where he was responsible for developing and managing the implementation of corporate ES&H strategies while communicating Bechtel’s ES&H values across all Global Business Units in pursuit of Zero Accidents. These responsibilities enabled Donn to work closely with projects and craft workers in the United States, Australia, Chile, Thailand, Kosovo, Canada, Africa and the Middle East. During his leadership, the company’s ES&H performance metrics improved 20%.
Donn has held numerous leadership positions in Bechtel during his 15 years, including strategy, business development, operations, project management, functional oversight and business line profit and loss. He has managed 500 - 1,000 colleagues on several occasions. Donn is recognized for his high-energy leadership style, communications skills, customer focus and commercial acumen. He has contributed to numerous Bechtel committees including People and Leadership, M&BD, Construction and Project Management. He is also a member of the Bechtel Leadership Academy Board of Advisors, Crisis Management Team, National Construction Safety Executives, and a sponsor of Bechtel’s NextGen group.
Prior to joining Bechtel, Donn held various positions with Bell Atlantic Corporation (now named Verizon) and Cambrian Communications, which included U.S. and non-U.S. corporate development, operations and project management for engineering and construction of telecommunications projects.
Donn earned a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree from the University of Notre Dame, where he was also a linebacker on the 1988 National Championship American football team. He also earned a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from The George Washington University. He is in good health, enjoys the NFL, competitive sports and outdoor activities. Donn and his wife Cindy reside in Damascus, MD and have three children ages 20, 18 and 16.
