In January 2012, in honor of National Mentoring Day, United Way of Delaware (UWDE) announced “Muriel E. Gilman Women in Action,” a unique mentoring program in Delaware to inspire women leaders to take action to make a difference in their communities. ‘Women in Action’ is the only mentoring program in the state where professional women mentor other professional women by helping them achieve their business, civic and community impact goals, and build long-term fulfilling partnerships.

In April 2017, ‘Women in Action’ will celebrate its fifth anniversary with the graduation of their Class of 2017 women mentors and mentees and they will launch their Class of 2018 with an additional 50 women leaders.

“The Women in Action Mentoring Program is a gift. One that is both eye-opening and heart-warming at the same time. Watching her passion for family, friends, work...life in general has been up-lifting. Mentoring is definitely a two-way street… each giving and receiving.”
