The learning sessions at this years Summit are your chance to design your learning to best enhance your work in your local community, and to LIVE UNITED. So, whether you are thinking of starting a Women’s Leadership Council, represent an organization who wants to build a partnership, are a woman seeking ways to increase her impact in her community or are a long time advocate of the Women’s Leadership Councils, there are many learning opportunities here for you. We encourage you to bring a team from your community to make the most of the Summit!

Value Based Philanthropy Thursday, 1:30 – 2:45 pm
Are you looking for ways to maximize your philanthropic giving to reflect your personal goals? Come learn about this innovative approach to making a difference in your community and around the globe.

Building Corporate Partners Thursday, 1:30 – 2:45 pm or Friday, 8:00 – 9:15am
Is your United Way struggling to know your donors who work at the companies where you run employee campaigns? Through this session you can learn how to maximize the value of your Women’s Leadership Council by strengthening your partnerships with your corporate partners.

Keeping Current Donors Thursday, 1:30 – 2:45 pm or Friday, 8:00 – 9:15am
Do you know what percentage of your donors come back year to year? Come learn strategies to aim for 100% of your members to stay with you!

Diversifying Revenue Thursday, 3:00 – 4:15 pm
Are you looking for new ways to leverage the financial investment of your WLC members with other streams of funding? Learn from representatives of corporate and private foundations how partnerships can lead to greater results.

The Next Huge Gift Thursday, 3:00 – 4:15 pm
Do you ever wonder what it would have been like to have given the first $10,000 gift to United Way? Its time to begin wondering about who will give the first $1B gift to United Way – why will it happen? How can it happen? Will it be by a woman? Through this session we will think about the steps needed to cultivate this gift.

Getting Attention Thursday, 1:30 – 2:45 pm or Friday, 8:00 – 9:15am
Do you know that your WLC is doing great work, but, you would like for more people to notice? Do you think more women would join your WLC if more people knew about it? Did the media pay attention when you launched, and now you are having trouble telling your story? In this session you will learn key strategies for getting your story to the public.

Building Your Basic Public Speaking Skills Thursday, 1:30 – 2:45 pm
Do you want to share the story of your Women’s Leadership Council, but, are a bit nervous about standing up in front of a group of people? Would you like to brush up on some basic public speaking skills? In this session you will learn the basics that will help you every time you speak.

Public Speaking - Delivering the Women’s Leadership Council Message Thursday, 3:00 – 4:15 pm
Are you a strong public speaker, but, not sure how to speak about Women’s Leadership Council? Did you just take the basics of public speaking, and now want to learn how to apply that to WLC? Through this session you will learn key messages to deliver in address on WLC.

Advancing your Women’s Leadership Council Goals through Public Policy Thursday, 3:00 – 4:15 pm
Are you looking for ways to increase the impact of your WLC? Learn from WLCs with successful Public Policy programs and from public policy professionals how you can bring this important work to your members

VOLUNTEER

Focusing for Results Thursday, 10:15 – 11:30 am
Are you struggling with reporting the results of the work of your WLC? Does your WLC want to focus on one key area, but, can’t decide where to focus? Have you decided on a general area of interest, but need help narrowing further? Come to this session to learn how plan with an outcome focus so that you can celebrate your success.

Partnering for Results Thursday, 10:15 – 11:30 am I
s your WLC working with partner groups to advance your goals? Have you come to the Summit wondering how to partner with the WLC? Join with WLC members and partners to explore how we can increase our impact and success in communities.

Build Your Leadership Skills Thursday, 10:15 – 11:30 am
Are you always looking for ways to learn how to be a better leader? Come to this session to learn valuable leadership skills that can help you both on the job and in your volunteer work.

Women Delivering Results through Volunteer Leadership Thursday, 1:30 – 2:45 pm
Are you looking for ways to engage your WLC members to help deliver your goals? Learn from other WLCs how they have built volunteer opportunities to align with the goals of their WLC and their United Way.

Strengthening Women’s Leadership with Inclusion – Part One Thursday, 1:30 – 4:15 pm
Are you committed to making sure everyone has an opportunity to advance the common good? Do you recognize your WLC grows stronger when everyone is included, but would like some help getting there? This is an open dialogue of how we can truly strive for excellence in this area. This is a two part session.

Women Leading United Way Thursday, 1:30 – 2:45 pm
Are you looking for skills to help your United Way advance the common good? Are you looking for way to increase the number of women who serve on your United Way Board? Come to this session to learn skills to help your United Way achieve results in the areas of education, income and health through better engaging women as leadership level volunteers.

Global United Way Thursday, 3:00 – 4:15 pm
Did you know there are United Ways outside of the United States? Curious to learn about them? Come to this session to learn from United Way women leaders from around the world how United Way is growing globally.

Women Leading the Community Thursday, 3:00 – 4:15 pm

Are you looking ways to improve your effectiveness as you work in your community? Come to this session to learn some skills that will help you in your work.

MANAGING YOUR WOMEN’S LEADERSHIP COUNCIL

Starting your Women’s Leadership Council Thursday, 10:15 – 11:30 am
Have you heard that United Way’s with Women’s Leadership Councils outperform those without? Learn the basics of how to start a Women’s Leadership Council from recruiting your volunteers, to structuring your leadership team and committees, and deciding on a minimum gift level.

Growing your Women’s Leadership Council Thursday, 10:15 – 11:30 am
Have you started Women’s Leadership Council in your community within the past few years? Curious how to increase membership? Struggling with attendance at your events? Come to this session and learn how to take your WLC to the next level.

Taking your Women’s Leadership Council to New Heights Thursday, 10:15 – 11:30 am
Is your Women’s Leadership Council established in your community? Are you ready to figure out what will be the next innovation for WLCs? Join with other established WLCs for a lively conversation about the future of WLC.

Women’s Leadership Council Structures Thursday, 10:15 – 11:30 am
Are you struggling with how to structure your committees? At this session you will learn models from several different United Ways whose structures have allowed them to mobilize many women into the work of their WLC and reflect the needs of their community.

Growing your WLC in your Smaller Community Thursday, 10:15 – 11:30 am
Are you working to build your WLC in a small community? Join with staff and volunteers from small community WLCs to learn the size of your community does not indicate the power of your WLC.

Growing Through a Challenging Economy Thursday, 3:00 – 4:15 pm or Friday, 8:00 – 9:15am
Has the downturn in the economy challenged your WLC growth? In this session learn strategies to have your WLC help your United Way succeed in economic downturns

Putting Knowledge into Action Friday, 8:00 – 9:15am
Did you come with a great team of people and know that they have gotten the same number of great ideas to take home as you have? Come to this session for some facilitated planning with you and other members of your WLC.
