Beyoncé and United Way Partner to Support Flint Residents

United Ways Across North America to Host Volunteer Events for their Communities

ALEXANDRIA, VA (April 21, 2016) — United Way Worldwide has aligned with Beyoncé’s BeyGood initiative to inspire everyone through The Formation World Tour to get involved in building stronger communities. Fans coming together—in activities big and small—will make a difference in their communities throughout the course of the tour. Together, we can positively impact the world in…Good Formation!

Beyoncé fans can join with United Way in three ways. They can support the United Way of Genesee County’s efforts to support the Flint Water Crisis by donating $10 through Crowdrise. Every $10 donation to United Way will help those affected by the water crisis, and gives fans the opportunity to win VIP tickets for The Formation World Tour. Ten randomly selected winners on each of the North American stops on the tour will be upgraded to the best seats in the house.

Fans can also join with United Way before the concerts in a series of volunteer opportunities, including creating free libraries, assembling backpacks of school supplies for children, creating hygiene kits for homeless youth and others. In doing so, they’ll enter a drawing for tickets to the show.

In Detroit, United Way of Genesee County, will host an event to thank supporters and announce how much fans have raised for the community of Flint.  More details of the signature charity event will be announced at a later date.

Beyoncé’s #BeyGOOD initiative will support local United Way programs and the work of United Way of Genesee County, which is continuing to respond to the water crisis in Flint, Michigan. United Way of Genesee County has been at the forefront of distributing bottled water and filtration systems, as well as providing emergency support services and prevention efforts to those in need. After the short-term needs of Flint residents have been met, United Way of Genesee County will provide the remaining funds to the Flint Child Health and Development Fund of the Community Foundation of Greater Flint, which will provide long-term developmental, educational and health support to children and families in the area.

“We’re grateful that Beyoncé is lending her voice and support to those in Flint whose lives have been impacted by this crisis,” said Brian Gallagher, President and CEO, United Way Worldwide. “By galvanizing her fans to support their communities through volunteer events across North America, she’s demonstrating what it means to Live United.”

“I am honored to partner with United Way in its efforts to find solutions and implement programs that bring about tangible changes in struggling communities,” said Beyoncé.
