Earlier this month the local Freedom 55 office presented the United Way Central and Northern Vancouver Island (UWCNVI) with a cheque for $1,350 – funds collected through the organization’s 2014 Workplace Campaign. Freedom 55 has long been a supporter of the United Way and its efforts, with the company especially pleased that all monies donated will be used locally.
Earlier this year the organization also took on a more hands on approach when it comes to serving the community, when six of the office’s staff volunteered their time at the United Way’s 7-10 Club, serving a warm breakfast, and helping to pack brown bag lunches for people in need.
“This had been our second time participating in a United Way Day of Caring and we plan on doing it on a quarterly basis,” said Mark Roberts, Branch Manager at Freedom 55. “Serving meals is a great way to tangibly give back to those who need a helping hand. There were a lot of smiling faces and appreciation coming from the people we served.”
