What’s Your Button of Motivation?

High school teacher Arnold Schilling impacted my life immensely. Mr. Schilling taught high school english and literature classes. First you need to know that I love to read. My mom instilled in me a love of learning and the incredible ability to imagine yourself within a book. So motivating me to read the things that I love to read was never an issue. However, motivating me to read the things that didn't nterest me was more of a challenge. Mr. Schilling pushed my buttons; all of the right ones. School and learning new concepts was exceptionally easy for me and I never struggled with getting an A. Mr. Schilling knew that I wasn't challenged and he took on the personal crusade to motivate those students that were not embracing their potential. He interwined music, religion, politics and anything else that you weren't supposed to talk about and he motivated and worked us into a frenzy of learning just so that he could prove a point that we could all learn something new, every day. Ignorance is no excuse. He was an incredible role model and teacher. He made us want to learn and come to class. The impact of a teacher is never just the student that they teach. Their impact reaches throughout their life time and those same principles are carried to others and shared. Mr. Schilling's impact on my life is far reaching, from the way that I approach my professional life, to raising my family, to interacting with my neighbors and even to what I do in my spare time. He's in a special part of my heart reserved for those special people that affect everything that you do and never know of that impact. He would simply take pride in knowing that he did what he could to share his love of learning and always striving to reach your potential. Mr. Schilling is an incredible example of putting his heart and soul into educating future generations.
