Crazy is Good

When I was in 2nd grade I had the most vivacious, outgoing and 'crazy' teacher. She made each day and adventure in learning. She would use silly songs and crazy voices for just about everything. The most memorable was when she would pretend to be an entirely different person, Dumb Dora was my personal favorite! As a young child I had 'school-itis', which is the common illness had by many children. The illness shows itself in early mornings with an overwhelming 'illness' and not wanting to go to school. :) Second grade was the first year that my mysterious 'school-itis' went away. I loved going to school to see what adventures 'Dumb Dora' and 'Lanky Larry' would have that day. As years went by, I went into a career in teaching and remember back to my crazy second grade teacher often. If you ask my students, they would describe me as the 'crazy teacher' who has a song or saying for everything! When I hear that, I smile fondly and think back to the teacher that changed education for me, she helped me in the classroom as both a learner and educator! Thank you, Mrs. Daugherty! (I am sure my students thank you too!)
