An NSF Project Buildup Champion
Since 2007, NSF Project Build Up visits schools & recreation centers in our city with Law Enforcement Agencies and other companies to empower, educate, support, encourage and motivate youth in many topics relating to effective living skills. From dropout prevention to practicing abstinence to conflict resolution and interests in higher education and career development volunteers and young artists from ages 18 to 30 years old join NSF to capture youth attention and offer services in & outside of school. There is one Principal who stood out from the rest. Principal Connie McAlister of the Bartram High School in Philadelphia, PA went over and beyond the call of duty. I tell many people how she turned one of Philadelphia most dangerous schools into a safe learning haven for her students. She reminds me of the Principal “Joe Clark off the movie “Lean On Me”. Principal McAlister showed me that it was more than her job, but her life work; her caring made the volunteer work we do in the schools seem well
worth the effort. I truly commend Principal McAlister and hope that our innovative Dropout Prevention program called “A BluePrint for a Second Chance” featuring Former NFL Eagle Linebacker Jeremiah Trotter will be an asset to her and teacher like her.
