A teacher affects eternity; he can never tell where his influence stops

I am 22 years old and about to graduate from college with a bachelor's degree in Family Services. I have gone through many teachers and professors throughout my years of schooling and, I must admit, only a few were able to truly impact my life in the long run. These teachers did not simply lecture the students, have us memorize information that we would forget after the test, or care more about their paycheck. The ones that impacted my life forever, as well as so many of my peers, are the ones who genuinely care and strive to make a tangible difference. The life lessons I have learned through these incredible teachers has been far more valuable and impact every aspect of my life. The information I crammed into my brain for exams; that is mostly long gone. But the few that are in the profession to truly change their students' lives for the better..those teachers are my heroes. I will remember them forever and carry their lessons with my every day. Through them. I have learned respect, that my opinions matter, that I have a voice that needs to be heard, that diversity should be embraced, that my values are essential to my well-being, and that I too can make a difference on this earth. I urge everyone to read the novel Tuesday's With Morrie, which I used a quote from forthe title of this story. For he demonstrates what a real, effective teacher should be in a manner I cannot put into words. So to all these teachers that go into this profession for the right reasons, to make a tangible difference in the lives of their students, thank you. It means the world to me.
