A Subject Made Easy
Mrs. Transou was a 7th grade teacher in Caldwell County, N.C., who taught Algebra. Algebra was a foreign term to many of us who had never heard that word back then, much less had parents who knew what that was. Algebra was beginning in the world of education.
Mrs. Transou made a word/subject that no one had ever heard of seem so easy, so natural. Algebra became a part of our lives and has never left me. This 7th grade teacher paved the way for the years of Chemistry, Trigonometry, and Statistics; these were words/subjects that I did not fear because Mrs. Transou never implied that Algebra was hard or difficult, only natural. I walked into Chemistry, Trigonometry, and Statistics confidently knowing that these too were normal and natural and I made A's.
