A good teacher can work miracles

Like many kids, I struggled with math, despite help from my parents and tutors. My high school Algebra class was especially trying and I barely scraped by . The next = year, I had the same teacher for Geometry and although fared somewhat better, I still struggled. A big part of it, I realized later, was the teacher's preoccupation with getting through all of the material rather than making sure the students understood what was being taught. Needless to say I dreaded having to take Algebra II the following year. Luckily, I had a new teacher for the class. Her name was Miss Pilian. I don't know what it was about the way she taught math, but I was able to gain a firm grasp on everything. I actually began to enjoy math, think it was fun. And, for the first time in my life, I got straight A's in a math class. A few years ago it really hit me what a difference Miss Pilian had made in my life. I tried to locate her as I wanted to say thank you, but was unable to find her. Even though she's not likely to see this, it's my way of saying a big thank you to her.
