A Catholic School Education is A-OK!

While having attended Catholic schools from Kindergarten through High School, I was taught by a number of nuns, but the one who had the most impact on my life was Sr. Mary Paul Henry. She was an amazing young woman who not only made learning fun, but also taught us how being kind and giving can enrich your life in even more ways. She was a strict disciplinarian, but discipline is a very important part of the learning process. We learned that by spending time doing homework and a lot of reading, we were able to open our eyes to so very much of the world around us. She taught me all of my eighth grade subjects and made my entry into high school that much easier as I had developed the discipline to prepare me for the days that were ahead in high school. During my time in eight grade, she taught us many things about the island of Haiti, and it wasn't until after I started high school that I learned why. She had such as passion and compassion for the poor people on that island that she became a missionary and moved to Haiti. For a number of years, I kept in contact with her and learned all about the wonderful things she was able to do for them, not only
educationally but compassionately. Sister taught me that while education is important, having the ability to reach out and touch someone else is also an important element of life. We have all been placed on this earth for a number of reasons, and helping those in need and sharing our gifts and talents is truly what it's all about!
