National Foundation for Credit Counseling and United Way Worldwide Join Together to Help Financially

Washington, DC – The National Foundation for Credit Counseling, Inc. (NFCC) and United Way Worldwide (UWW) each have a commitment to ensuring that individuals and families experiencing financial hardship have access to quality financial education, appropriate financial products, accredited counseling services and financial assistance.

The two organizations are pleased to announce that this shared commitment has resulted in the creation of a partnership designed to  bring together the strengths of the two respected nonprofits, each well-positioned to meet the needs of consumers through the on-the-ground presence of their local offices in thousands of communities across America.

Later this year, financially distressed individuals and families will be directed to one of the 800 NFCC Member Agencies through the national United Way 2-1-1 helpline, providing callers with legitimate and reliable financial education and counseling.

Specifically, this partnership will expand access to information, resources and services, creating positive change not only for the individuals and families receiving the services, but improving the financial health and well-being of communities as a whole.

“The NFCC is proud to partner with United Way to collaboratively utilize our community-based networks to help Americans who are experiencing financial hardship find financial stability,” said Susan C. Keating, president and CEO of the NFCC.

“Through our collaboration with NFCC, we look forward to expanding the availability of effective financial counseling and critical support services available nationwide,” said Stacey D. Stewart, executive vice president of United Way Worldwide.  “As we work to help more individuals and families become financially stable, we’re proud to partner with an organization as trusted within the community as NFCC.”

Consumers can access financial assistance by dialing 2-1-1 or going to www.211.org
