Karen E. Glover (Kari) practiced law for over 30 years as a corporate and health care regulatory lawyer. She was Firm Managing Partner of Preston Gates & Ellis LLP, a Seattle-based firm of 430 lawyers with eleven offices in Washington, D.C., the West Coast and Greater China. As such, she presided over the consideration of and merger with Kirkpatrick & Lockhart Nicholson Graham LLP, an East Coast firm, effective January 1, 2007, to form K&L Gates, an international law firm then comprising about 1,700 lawyers on three continents, including Europe and the United Kingdom. She served as Global Integration Partner of K&L Gates, traveling constantly until she withdrew from the firm and the active practice of law as of January 1, 2009.
Ms. Glover has long been involved in civic leadership, serving on for-profit, nonprofit and government boards. She previously served as Chair of the Board of Attenex Corporation, a start-up corporation with proprietary ediscovery software that was successfully acquired in 2008; Chair of the Board of Directors of United Way of King County; President of the Board of Trustees of the King County Library System, a local government measured among the top three public library systems in the United States; and Chair of the Board of Trustees of Whitman College; among others. She currently serves on the Board of Directors of United Way of King County; as Vice President of the Board of Directors, King County Library System Foundation; on the Board of Trustees, Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center; as a Trustee, Whitman College; on the Board of Directors, VillageReach; and on the Board of Directors of Myoonet, Inc., an education technology start-up. Kari holds degrees with honors from Whitman College (A.B., Philosophy, 1972) and Harvard Law School (J.D., 1975). She is married and has two daughters.
