Vice President, Human Resources
Evelyn Zayas Amador oversees all aspects of the human resources function at United Way Worldwide. She has been part of the United Way Worldwide (formerly United Way of America) team since 1998 and has served as the Vice President of Human Resources since 2000. In that capacity, she has also provided human resources services to other related organizations like United Way International and United eWay.
Prior to joining United Way in 1998, she held the position of Associate General Counsel for the Puerto Rico Federal Affairs Administration (PRFAA) in Washington, DC, where she was responsible for employment and contract issues. She also served for several years as part of their Inter-governmental Affairs division, their lobbying team on behalf of the people of Puerto Rico, and was responsible for the areas of education, housing and justice. Prior to PRFAA, Evelyn worked with Legal Services of North Central Kansas (a United Way agency) where she was specifically responsible for legal matters related to children in the foster care system.
Evelyn holds a Bachelors of Science in Commerce and Business Administration with a concentration in accounting from the University of Alabama, a Masters degree in Public Administration with a concentration in non-profit management from George Mason University, and a law degree from the University of Kansas School of Law. She also holds a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) certification from the Human Resources Certification Institute of the Society of Human Resources Management.
Born in Puerto Rico, Evelyn moved to the U.S. mainland in 1981 and is fluent in both Spanish and English.
