The Opportunity Nation campaign includes more than 300 nonprofits, businesses, educational institutions, faith-based organizations, community organizations and individuals—all working together to expand economic opportunity. United Way has been an active partner, on its steering committee, co-convening the Opportunity Summit and helping to fund and promote the Opportunity Index.

The Opportunity Index is the nation’s first online snapshot of what opportunity looks like where you live, in your state and in your county. The Index measures key economic, educational and civic factors that can expand or restrict opportunity. A key factor is high school graduation, which plays a leading role in advancing opportunity and upward mobility.

Coinciding with a renewed national focus on employment and economic inequality, Opportunity Nation hosted its most recent National Opportunity Summit with more than 1,000 attendees—including prominent elected officials and leaders from business, nonprofit and higher education—to discuss today's challenges to economic, social and educational opportunity for young adults. Stacey D. Stewart, U.S. President of United Way Worldwide, was one of the featured speakers.
