Donate Take Action

United Ways are doing great work in advocating for Out-of-School Time support, through publicizing their action agendas, demonstrating the need that their OST programs fill, and working towards a brighter future. Some examples can be found below:

Valley of the Sun United Way — Editorial: Quality Afterschool Care is Essential (2010)
This newspaper editorial is by Valley of the Sun United Way's CEO and Melanie McClintock, the Executive Director for Arizona Center for School Excellence. It emphasizes the importance and the potential benefit of Phoenix's Out-of-School Time Action Agenda.

United Way of Massachusetts Bay and Merrimack Valley - Steps Forward: Creating a Quality Early Education and Care and Out-of-School Time (2007) Workforce
In 2007, the Massachusetts-based Early Education and Care and Out-of-School Time Task Force developed key recommendations for a comprehensive workforce development system. These strategies include creating a distinct career path for early education and care and Out-of-School Time practitioners.

Out-of-School Time Best Practice Examples (2009)
These Out-of-School Time best practices were collected by AzCASE/Valley of the Sun United Way's Out-of-School Time Network Action Steering Committee to inform the development of their own action agenda.
