Washington Redskins-United Way of the National Capital Area 2016 Hometown Huddle

On December 15, 2016 United Way NCA, Washington Redskins Charitable Foundation and EverFi visited Buck Lodge Middle School for a Hometown Huddle Character Playbook assembly. Buck Lodge Middle School’s mission is to “empower students to be leaders and problem solvers by fostering a safe, supportive and challenging educational environment. Their commitment to excellence is reflected through Title I, AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination), Character Education, TEDL (Transforming Education Through Digital Learning) and 21st century initiatives”. The pep rally style assembly gave the scholars an opportunity to interact with a panel, consisting of Washington Redskins alumnus Clinton Portis, cheerleaders Latasha and Akusua, Redskins alumnus and EverFi representative Evan Royster and Buck Lodge Counselor Ms. Harold. Mind and body conversation topics covered character education, communicating effectively, understanding and managing emotions, resolving conflicts, healthy eating and physical activity.
