All You Need is Love

ninth grade. fifth hour. geometry class. and i meet a young woman who very obviously loves every second she spends teaching, who goes off on tangents (pun intended) about new ways to integrate math into the social world, who becomes almost hysterically excited when she discovers some new loophole or nuance in her subject, when she realizes there is yet another layer to the infinite world of mathematics. i never used to like math; in fact, i would regularly wish upon the primary contributors of the subject gruesome deaths, but her love and fascination with it spread to me, it was infectious, and even though i still am not the best in geometry, i don't care, because she showed me that if you try hard enough, you can love anything. this was not just a teacher, this was also a friend, and a woman who very deeply cared for her students and her trade. i'm honored to have met her.
