United Way of San Diego County — Cristino, Dalia and Geovanny Rojas (18, 16 and 13) are the first kids in their family to have bank accounts because they learned all about banking in a United Way funded financial education program. The Power of Volunteering

United Way of Martin County — During his personal time, Jim Vojcsik of United Way of Martin County volunteers as a school-based mentor for a young man named Michael who is being raised by his grandmother. Michael and Jim had a relationship over a four-year period during which Michael was in middle school and high school. Over the course of Jim's mentorship, Michael began to see more success in school—with Jim's support and guidance, Michael was able to maintain, and in many cases improve his grades, his school attendance and his behavior.
