2016 New Year’s Resolutions: Read more. Spend less. Make healthier choices. And help others to do the same.
Why? Because United Way envisions a world where every individual has an opportunity to succeed, and entire communities thrive as a result. To realize that vision, we focus our resources – including volunteers -- on education, financial stability and health, the building blocks for a good life and a strong community.
These are big goals, but with each person doing their part, we really can change the world. For you and me, it could be as simple as signing up to read to a child once a week. Or preparing tax returns so that struggling families receive the benefits they are due. Or helping an at-risk child stay active and healthy.
As you think about your resolutions for 2016, I hope you’ll include volunteering among them. Wishing you and yours a Happy Volunteer Year!
