Women’s Leadership Council in Miami-Dade Takes Action to Improve Early Grade Reading

09/28/11

Members of the United Way of Miami-Dade Women's Leadership Council launched a Volunteer Reader Program.

Help a child learn to read well by the end of the 3rd grade and you put them on a course to succeed in school and life. Members of the United Way of Miami-Dade Women's Leadership Council know that it's important to instill the love of reading early, before kindergarten, for kids to be on track to read well.  This is why they have launched a Volunteer Reader Program.  Volunteers are trained in tips to read to kids, receive a reader toolkit and are connected with a classroom to share their new skills.

Check out photos from the event.
