The House of Representatives is moving quickly to pass the Fiscal Year (FY) 2012 Homeland Security Appropriations Act, a bill that includes funding for the Emergency Food and Shelter Program. As currently written, the bill continues cuts of $80 million from the FY 2010 and FY 2009 funding levels of $200 million. The Fiscal Year 2012 Homeland Security Appropriations Act, contains $120 million in funding, reflecting one of the lowest levels of the last decade.
The full House of Representatives is expected to debate the bill June 1st & 2nd with a vote on final passage expected on the 2nd. Please call your Congressman TODAY and ask that they support and work to amend the current bill to restore EFSP funding to $200 million.
