Get involved with Youth Health and Wellness in North Texas
07/08/11
United Way of Metropolitan Dallas is engaging the North Texas community to Kick Obesity. The online campaign, launched June 24 in conjunction with the United Way Day of Action, allows people to take a series of small actions that add up to big results for getting kids active and healthy. The community impact is tracked online and shows pounds lost for North Texas kids, minutes of physical activity and more. In support of the Kick Obesity campaign, the community’s Leadership Givers volunteered at Salvation Army hosting a field day, engaging 130 kids in physical fitness activities, including basketball games, jump roping, tug-of-war matches and three-legged races. The volunteers also served the kids a healthy lunch.
