Olympian Apolo Anton Ohno joins students and Deloitte professionals on March 12th to kick off the United Way Alternative Spring Break sponsored by Deloitte.

Olympian Apolo Anton Ohno joins Deloitte and United Way in support of Alternative Spring Break

Students throughout the country are putting down their notebooks and rolling up their sleeves this week, making a difference in towns and cities throughout the country.
We’re maximizing our impact with the United Way Alternative Spring Break sponsored by Deloitte. This week, students and professionals from Deloitte are volunteering side-by-side to strengthen the community in the greater Washington, DC area. 
Inspired by the students’ choice to give back instead of relax this spring break, the legendary short track speedskater, Olympian Apolo Anton Ohno, will join us at events in Washington, D.C. next week.  Ohno is coming to deliver a motivational message, exploring the relationships between community service, high-performance careers, and professional achievement. 
With the support of leaders like Ohno and with partners like Deloitte, the United Way Alternative Spring Break program has literally changed the course of students’ lives and helped improve conditions in communities across the country.  Some quick stats-

Nearly 2,000 students have participated in ASB since 2006 year
Students have been active in dozens of communities
64,360 hours of volunteer service
This year, ASB students are descending on places like Biloxi, El Paso, Washington, D.C., Boston, Newark, and Detroit

Dozens of students are putting down their notebooks and rolling up their sleeves this week, joining United Way for the United Way Alternative Spring Break sponsored by Deloitte. Students and professionals Deloitte are volunteering side-by-side to strengthen the community in the greater Washington, DC area.
